Storage: When traveling, backpacks and other gear (i.e. nonvaluables) can be stored for free in self-serve bear-proof boxes at trail heads, at the edge of the parking lot in Curry Village, and wherever else you find them unattached to specific campsites.

Connects to YARTS bus (see above) in Merced to take you into Yosemite Valley.(There is no park entrance fee for visitors arriving on YARTS.) From the S.F. Bay Area and Sacramento, train travel to Yosemite is cheap, and discounts are offered, including AAA, U.S. military, students and seniors. Phone reservations: (800) USARAIL.

No gas is sold in Yosemite Valley (except in emergencies), so fill up at Crane Flat or other locations just outside the valley. There's a full-service garage in the valley, at Yosemite Village, for vehicle repair.
